Samuele Albani: Researcher / Creative Technologist
Joined the research group led by Prof. Johnny Golding and Tom Simmons, exploring mycelium intelligence and AI, immersivity, distributed intelligence, extractivism, and new forms of storytelling. The project was presented at Re-Wilding AI, a symposium held at the immersive SNAP VisLab, RCA Battersea Campus, London, UK.
As a technical researcher and full-stack developer, I designed and developed a WebXR application using Three.js, AR.js, p5.js and GLSL, creating an interactive AR experience that visualized key research breakthroughs through 3D augmented reality elements.
The AR experience was triggered by markers printed on a board game designed by Dr. Jonathan Boyd. I also implemented socket.io networking, connecting a Node.js server with its clients and a Python desktop application, enabling a collective AR experience synchronized across mobile devices and immersive projections at the SNAP VisLab.
Additionally, I developed the All Red Line app for the section designed by Dr John Wild, which composes sounds using GPS coordinates. Lastly, I used Blender to create concept drawings, which were projected live and printed.
